A Taste of Caffee

The minute my house parents signed my permission slip, I knew that Caltex Coffee Plus is the place where my classmates and I would be going for our mini and many more to follow, field trips. The van left the school at 1:30 P.M. sharp. It took us less than a minute to get there (if you like coffee) or at least it seemed to be, as a matter of fact it was a twenty minutes ride from the school to there. My heart raced as the van’s door swug open because I like coffee. It was a perfect day for me to have a coffee, for all day long I had not been thinking straight!

The surrounding of Coffee Plus was clean, which was a bit abnormal, for most places in Cambodia are pretty dirty. Even the clouds were out to shield us from the hot, and scorching heat of the sun, and even from the coffee itself you might say. The inside was fresh and clean. They also had various pictures displayed on their walls of their classic drinks. The color of the wall was bright yellow, a very catchy color that fit the place, I think. The chairs and tables were perfect for both a big group, and a dating couples depending on how they are arranged.

Coffee Plus started five months ago. The very place where Coffee Plus stands existed many years, but no one did anything with it. At least not until five months ago, when the owner of the actual place decided to try something new instead of just sailing homes’ goodies and snacks. That was when Coffee Plus officially started.

The service was swift and efficient. One could actually watch as the orders were being prepared right in front of the customer. “Everything here is fresh, that is the reason why we are not ashamed to make it in front of you,” said Yim Sokum, one of the many cute waitresses. They sure did a good job with their services.

The best part was the cost for a drink is cheap. A higher class Cambodians finds it very easy, but the average would find it a bit too expensive. For example, the cost of a strawberry smoothie is $1.30, or stick for $0.50.  It’s actually bread with 12 pieces, but for some reason Coffee Plus called it sticks; now don’t ask me, I have no clue. It was good though, especially if you have it with Ice Milk Coffee for $1.25, and not to mention, my classmates liked it too. Ice Milk Coffee was what I had, it was very refreshing and strengthening. It consisted of ice (obviously appealing here), milk, and coffee. I also had a taste of Coffee eclair ($0.90) from one of my classmates. It was rich and heavy, the eclair weighed, “…at least a pound,” Tim Roberts proclaimed. Coffee Plus has a good deal to offer, if you ever find yourself in there.
